Stay Informed with the City of Allentown CodeRED Emergency Alert System

Allentown CodeRED is a community notification system to alert people when an emergency happens such as weather events, chemical spills, gas leaks, missing person alerts, emergency evacuations, shelter in place recommendations, and other incidents that may affect health and safety.

Allentown CodeRED alerts are sent to people with a registered home and/or work address in the City of Allentown.  Geo-targeted and time sensitive notifications are sent via email, text message, and/or phone message.  The Allentown CodeRED message is also sent through the CodeRED App to notify people in the affected area.

  • Text ALLENTOWNALERT to 99411 OR  Go to allentownpa.gov/ema and Click on the Top CodeRED Weather Warning Icon
  • Create an account to register your email address(es) and cell phone number(s) to received text and phone alerts.
  • Make sure to include the email addresses and cell phone numbers of everyone in your family.
  • Select the preferred language when you create your Allentown CodeRED account.  You Can Receive the Alerts in:

      • English
      • Spanish
      • Chinese
      • French
      • Japanese
      • Korean
      • Russian

Email messages include the full scope of the incident as well as timely detailed updates.  All CodeRED messages are sent via email, including updates.

Text messages provide a brief overview of the incident to mobile phones. All CodeRED messages are sent via text message, including updates.

Phone calls provide a brief overview of the incident.  Only urgent messages requiring immediate action are sent to landline and mobile phones registered in the system.  

IMPORTANT:  You control your Allentown CodeRED settings. It’s important to keep updated phone numbers and email addressed in your profile.  Only the email addresses and phone numbers listed in your account will be contacted in an emergency.  And remember that the email includes more information and details.

The CodeRED App uses the GPS location of your mobile device to alert you of an emergency.  The GPS location is based on where YOU are.  If you’re traveling in an area that is affected, and that community uses the CodeRED emergency notification system, then you’ll get notified through the CodeRED App.   

  1. Search for CodeRED in the App Store (ios) or Google Play Store (Android). Once downloaded, click on the “Register” button which requires you to create a username and password. 
  2. IMPORTANT: The CodeRED App and Allentown CodeRED account are NOT connected. You must complete separate registrations for each to receive alerts from both Allentown CodeRED and the CodeRED App. 
  3. TIP: Use the same username and password for both the CodeRED App and your Allentown CodeRED accounts.
