Summer job opportunities include swimming pool lifeguards, pool gate attendants and concession stand cashiers, summer playground program instructors and parks and golf course laborers. Starting salaries based upon position are $9.00 to $12.00 per hour.

Lifeguard positions, at a starting salary of $12.00 per hour, include in-house training and certification. Pool attendants and cashiers are responsible for daily selling of admissions and food products and are a great employment opportunity for those who enjoy interaction with the public and offering great customer service. Starting salary is $9.00 per hour.
Summer playground program instructor positions are available for individuals interested in working directly with city youth. The summer playground program instructor is responsible for leading the playground through educational recreation activities that include but are not limited to games, arts & crafts, field trips, sports offerings, environmental education, science and annual Romper Day celebration preparations. The position is a great opportunity for individuals looking at a career in the education field and providing them an opportunity to engage and educate children ages 7-15 in a recreational setting. Starting pay rate is $10.00 per hour.
Applicants for pool and playground positions must be at least 16 years of age.
The Parks Bureau summer seasonal laborer position involves a wide variety of tasks, such as grass cutting, litter collection, garbage collection, landscaping and general activities for parks maintenance. It offers a Monday through Friday work week that allows successful candidates to enjoy summer weekends off. Starting salary is $12.00 per hour.
The Allentown Municipal Golf Course
offers a temporary part-time golf course laborer position. Learn daily maintenance practices such as course set-up, which involves changing pins, moving tees, filling divots, and watering. An additional assignment may include mowing greens, tees and fairways and raking sand bunkers. Take advantage of on the job training as well as golf and driving range privileges. Starting salary is $10.00 per hour.
