The Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone (NIZ) is a designated area for revitalization and economic development. Within the NIZ, certain state and local taxes generated by new development projects can be used to finance infrastructure improvements, attract businesses, and create more jobs. This special zone aims to stimulate growth, enhance the community, and boost economic activity by providing incentives for investment within its boundaries. Every year by January 31, all businesses and contractors working in the NIZ are required to report the taxes that the business paid on a cash basis for the preceding calendar year. 

As of November 1, 2024 the City of Allentown will be requiring online filing. Please submit all NIZ local tax reports on our website at nizfiling.allentownpa.gov.
