Curbside Collection Service Overview

 

Residents may place out trash and recycling after 5pm on their collection night. Containers must be removed from the curb within 12 hours after pickup.

SNOWSTORM UPDATE – 1.26.2026

Sunday/Wednesday Night Collection Zones:

Trash and recycling are canceled on Sunday night, January 25. Residents in the Sunday night collection zone are asked to place out both trash AND recycling for collection on Wednesday night, January 28. Up to 10 bags of trash or 4 (32 gallon) trash cans, plus 1 bulk item will be accepted. Residents in the Wednesday Night Blue zone may also place out their yard waste for collection.

Monday/Thursday Night Collection Zones:

Trash, recycling, and yard waste collections are canceled on Monday night, January 26. Residents in the Monday night collection zone are asked to hold their trash and place out for collection on Thursday night, January 29. Up to 10 bags of trash or 4 (32 gallon) trash cans, plus 1 bulk item will be accepted. Monday night recyclers are asked to please hold their recycling until their next scheduled collection - Monday night, February 2. Residents in the Monday night BLUE zone are asked to hold their yard waste until their next scheduled collection - Monday night, February 9.

Tuesday/Friday Night Collection Zones:

Trash, recycling, and yard waste collections are canceled on Tuesday night, January 27. Residents in the Tuesday night collection zone are asked to hold their trash and place out for collection on Friday night, January 30. Up to 10 bags of trash or 4 (32 gallon) trash cans, plus 1 bulk item will be accepted. Tuesday night recyclers are asked to please hold their recycling until their next scheduled collection – Tuesday night, February 3. Residents in the Tuesday night BLUE zone are asked to hold their yard waste until their next scheduled collection - Tuesday night, February 10.

The Recycling Drop Off Center on Martin Luther King Jr Dr remains closed to the public.

Trash is collected twice a week with the following limits:

    • Up to 5 bags (30 gallons, 40 pounds each) OR
    • 2 cans (32 gallons, 70 pounds each) per night

Only regular household trash is allowed; no tires, bricks, concrete, stone, TVs or electronics.

Only accepted on the second night of your collection week, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, with the following limits:

  • 1 bulk item (furniture, wrapped mattress, etc.) per week OR
  • 40 pounds of construction material, bundled or in a trash bag/can.

Recycling is collected once a week on one of your designated pickup nights. Please refer to the map to determine your recycling night. Unlimited curbside recycling is allowed with City-issued bins.

  • Recycling Bins are available free for pickup at 641 S. 10th St., Mon-Fri 8 am-4:30 pm.
  • Recycling is single stream, meaning all recyclables (bottles, cans, cartons, paper, cardboard) can go into same bin. Bigger cardboard boxes may be flattened, bundled and placed next to the Recycling Bin.

  • Organic material only (grass, branches, hedge trimmings, garden waste, etc.) in rigid containers (32-gallon max) with yard waste stickers.
  • Can be placed out in either brown paper lawn bags or rigid containers (no larger than 32 gallons).
  • Please place Yard Waste stickers on rigid containers being used for collection. Stickers are available for pickup at the Recycling Office, or request by mail by calling 610-437-8729.
  • Piles of loose branches must be bundled and tied.
  • Bamboo is NOT accepted, please contact the Recycling Office for guidance.
  • Yard waste will NOT be accepted in plastic bags or Allentown recycling bins.

New curbside rules effective June 1st

  • Collected every other week.
  • Most residents will continue to place out on their recycling night EXCEPT for Sunday night recyclers, who will now place yard waste out on Wednesday nights.
  • Please reference the attached map for the new yard waste collection schedule.

Curbside collections will be affected by the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If your collection is scheduled for the night before a holiday, your collection will be canceled. Set-out instructions for the affected area will be posted prior to the holiday. Call the recycling office for any questions.
