The Lehigh Valley’s own “The Large Flowerheads” will bring to life the musical sights and sounds of the '60s in a concert in Allentown on Saturday, July 15 from 7pm to 9:30pm. The appearance at West Park, located between 15th and 16th Street from Linden to Turner, is part of the city’s “Saturday in the Park” series.
Named after a carton of artificial flowers spotted in a warehouse rehearsal space, “The Large Flowerheads” consist of Maureen “Moe” Jerant on drums and guitar, Greg Geist on rhythm guitar and drums, Billy Trexler on lead guitar and electric sitar, John Harkins on keyboards & bass and Colleen Zajacik on bass guitar & percussion.
“The Large Flowerheads” have been a Lehigh Valley Music Awards Winner as “Best Entertaining Band” and “Best Cover Band,” and Maureen "Moe" Jerant has been voted "Best Drummer."
“The Large Flowerheads” have opened for “Peter Noone & Herman’s Hermits,” “The 5th Dimension,” “The Guess Who,” “The Tubes,” “The Dan Band” and “The Vogues.” At Wildwood’s Sensational ‘60’s Weekend, they warmed up the crowd for “The Grass Roots,” “Gary Puckett & the Union Gap” and “Paul Revere & the Raiders.”
The band has played all across the region, including the Musikfest Café in Bethlehem, Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, Hollywood Casino in Hershey, TD Bank Amphitheater in Bensalem and Bayonne Summer Concert Series in Bayonne, NJ. They can also be seen performing at fairs, festivals and summer concert series throughout the region, including Musikfest.
