Matt Tuerk is a dedicated public servant and the first Latino Mayor of Allentown, assuming office in January 2022.

With a background steeped in regional economic development, Matt has been instrumental in propelling the Lehigh Valley's prosperity. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he played a pivotal role in attracting substantial investment and helping businesses generate thousands of jobs.

 

A distinguished alumnus of the College of Charleston, Matt graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's in International Business in 2002. He further honed his expertise by earning an MBA from the University of South Carolina in 2004. Drawing on his educational foundation, he's exhibited a keen acumen for strategic planning, exemplified by his role in establishing the region's first hackerspace and coworking hub.

 

Beyond his professional achievements, Matt's personal pursuits reveal a multifaceted individual. An avid long-distance runner, he has conquered 18 marathons, embodying perseverance and dedication. His passion for languages shines through as he presently delves into the study of Arabic, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning.
